[General Description]
“This ARIB Standard (referred to as this “Standard”), under the definition of the specified low-power radio stations designated in Article 6, Paragraph 4, Item 2 of the Regulations for Enforcement of the Radio Law, sets forth provisions concerning a radio equipment (referred to as “79 GHz Band High-Resolution Radar”) for detecting small target objects such as pedestrians and bicycles from a vehicular site to provide a radiolocation service.”Conventional 76 GHz band Radars (specified in ARIB STD-T48) mounted on a vehicle are used for safety system which detects vehicles and on road obstacles ahead to alleviate traffic accidents as well as for notification system for vehicles approaching from behind or from the diagonal front sides.
In addition to the above, in order to detect objects such as pedestrians and bicycles, this Radar uses frequency greater than 77GHz to less than 81GHz (the designated frequency band based on the Notification of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications is from 78 to 81GHz) to improve separation and extraction capability of the target objects.
