[General Description]

This technical report stipulates the operations of broadcast stations conducting digital satellite TV broadcast, the functional specifications of digital satellite TV broadcast receivers, the operations of broadcast stations conducting digital broadband communication satellite TV broadcast, and the functional specifications of a compatible receiver for digital satellite TV broadcast and digital broadband communication satellite TV broadcast.

Digital satellite TV broadcasts and digital broadband communication satellite TV broadcasts shall be broadcast in conformity with the stipulations of the Ordinances and Notifications of Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (formerly the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications) and the ARIB standard, but the related ARIB standard is both a media-transversal standard and a broad, generic standard. Therefore, for actual broadcast services, detailed operational stipulations must be provided on the basis of that ARIB standard. This technical report has accordingly been arranged by broadcast service carriers and other categories, and can contribute to the detailed design of transmitters, receivers, and the like best suited for the reception and transmission of actual broadcast services.

This standard applies to standard television broadcast, high-definition television broadcast, digital broadcast (BS digital broadcast) in VHF broadcasting and data broadcast, all of which are conducted by broadcasting satellite stations at a frequency band 11.7 GHz to 12.2 GHz, and also applies to standard television broadcast with a bandwidth of 34.5 MHz, high-definition television broadcast, digital broadcast (digital broadband CS broadcast) in VHF broadcasting and data broadcast, all of which are conducted by broadcasting satellite stations at a frequency band 12.2 GHz to 12.75 GHz.
