[General Description]

This standard intends to specify exchange format of the digital closed caption file for digital television broadcasting which deals with closed caption broadcasting system for digital television broadcasting among standard television broadcasting and so on that broadcasting stations broadcast. Comparing NAB standard which has been used before, the specification is extended for HDTV, multi-language, recording in media except FD, addition of roll-up mode, closed caption for cell-phone and so on. By this standard, compatibility of digital closed caption data which is exchanged between broadcasting station and production house and so on is secured. Closed caption data for analog broadcasting (analog closed cation) can be also transmitted.

This standard applies to all closed caption data file for digital terrestrial television broadcasting, BS digital broadcasting, and wide band CS digital broadcasting which are made according to ARIB standard STD-B24 “Data Coding and Transmission Specification for Digital Broadcasting”.
