[General Description]

This standard ARIB STD-91 specifies the radio equipment of radio station of “UWB (Ultra-WideBand) Radio System” for communication use. Here, the radio equipment of radio station for UWB system is defined in Article 4-4, Paragraph 2, Item 2 of the Regulations for Enforcement of the Radio Act.

The revision of the related Ordinance and Notification for UWB system of Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications is enforced on August 1, 2006.

The UWB radio system attracts attention as a technology which performs communication by occupying ultra-wideband (more than 450MHz), and realize sharing with other radio system by suppressing transmission power per occupied bandwidth to very low level.

UWB radio system is expected to be used for high speed file transfer between personal computer peripheral equipment or streaming transmission of video and etc. between TV display and speaker.
